the culture of traveling - filling in »blanks« on the map
When work started on the Industrial Garden Realm, the Bauhaus staff were themselves travelers.
The precondition for imparting the fascination of this region as an area for design, as a
landscape of extremes and the imagination, was the constant willingness of the participants
to explore and discover.
In 1996, work started on
establishing the Travel Network so as to make the Industrial Garden
Realm accessible to a broad section of the public. The objective was for an intelligent,
sensuous form of cultural tourism so as to foster an exchange between the regions and
sustained independent regional development. The »travel network agency« was opened in
cooperation with the Industrial Garden Realm Association in the Cranach Hof in Wittenberg
in 1997.
